Review:

Film ini nyaris tak punya plot. Kita hanya menyimak apa yang dilakukan Lee dan orang-orang sekitarnya pasca kematian Joe. Jika premis Manchester by the Sea terdengar seperti pencarian jalan untuk penebusan, penulis dan sutradara Kenneth Lonergan lebih menekankan pada emosi daripada resolusi. Emosi ini tak terlihat di permukaan, film tak mengatakan apapun, namun kita dapat menangkap perasaannya.
