Six astronauts aboard the space station study a sample collected from Mars that could provide evidence for extraterrestrial life on the Red Planet. The crew determines that the sample contains a large, single-celled organism - the first example of life beyond Earth. But..things aren't always what they seem. As the crew begins to conduct research, and their methods end up having unintended consequences, the life form proves more intelligent than anyone ever expected.

Review:

Life tidak punya karakter yang kuat di sini yang bisa benar-benar memimpin pergerakan narasinya. Tokoh Miranda North milik Ferguson memang terlihat meyakinkan sebagai dokter. Ia cantik dan anggun dalam seragam antariksanya, namun kurang memberikan dampak besar, sementara Raynolds didapuk hanya sebagai karakter pendukung yang porsinya tidak banyak, padahal ia cukup menarik sebagai pemancing tawa. Tidak ada yang bisa diharapkan dari tokoh Gyllenhaal di sini, tanpa back-up kuat narasi ia terlihat seperti astronot kesepian tanpa emosi yang terjebak di dalam sebuah mimpi buruk yang generik.
