    Tang Monk brings three disciples on a journey to the West. On the outside, everything seems harmonious. However, tension is present beneath the surface, and their hearts and minds are not in agreement. After a series of demon-capturing events, the monk and his disciples gain mutual understanding of each others' hardships and unease. Finally, they resolve their inner conflict and work together to become an all-conquering, demon-exorcising team.

    Adaptasi terbaru dari saga Journey to the West ini diarahkan oleh Tsui Hark dan diproduksi oleh Stephen Chow sebagai sekuel dari blockbuster Journey the the West: Conquering the Demons (2013). Sebagaimana pendahulunya, film ini pun sukses besar di box office Tiongkok.
    Cerita dalam film Journey to the West: The Demons Strike Back dimulai ketika Tang Sanzang mendapati dirinya di India dan memperoleh lingkaran suci (halo) sebagai hadiah dari keberhasilannya mengambil sutra. Tapi kemudian lingkaran suci-nya rusak, dan ia terbangun dari mimpi dalam kondisi berdiri di sebuah gang kecil di tengah malam berhujan badai.
